Opinion Today: Confronting anti-Muslim bigotry within the Muslim community - New York Times

 
You must think everything is about racism, prejudice or bigotry. That’s because you are describing yourself and your own personal process of thinking. And you think everyone thinks like you.

However, it doesn’t have anything to do with racism, bigotry and not even prejudice. It is much simpler in principle. As a liberal there are something’s I cannot accept in the Muslim community. And, impossible to tolerate.

I cannot accept banishing people from their lands. I cannot accept treating people as second-class citizens because they are non-Muslims or not the right kind of Muslim. I cannot accept killing people because of their religion or personal beliefs. I cannot accept the honor killing of women. I can accept rape and the degrading treatment of women by Muslims. I cannot accept killing and selling women and children into slavery. I cannot accept Muslim men using young boys as sex slaves.

In other words, I cannot accept the Prophet. That would make me anti-muslim in the eyes of the New York Times and the Muslim Community. A better question would be why the hundreds of years of Islamic history is not rejected by all reasonable people of all colors and races including the so-called moderate Muslim.

Update: 9/5/22 - It should be noted that in the US there could be a large number of Muslims in name only. Not unlike cafeteria Catholics. I realize it is not fair to paint all these Muslims with the same brush. I only refer to true followers of the Prophet that the media usually refers to as terrorist or given some alphabet soup name never mentioning that they are Muslims. (Or a US Congresswoman who makes it clear her anti-Jewish views.)

It should be noted when I use the word liberal or liberal philosophy, I do not mean the very authoritarian conservative Democrat Party.
