Madam President,
I realize the interviewer did not ask you about the quality of education and educators. That is no reflection on you.
Which brings me to my question. Does the MAE agree or disagree with the concerns of the Parents Defending Education as stated below !?
I would appreciate your views on these very important issues.
This month, an ideological activist group sued to try to force New York City schools to teach a politicized, destructive “anti-racist” curriculum and to shut down the City’s gifted and talented programs — a lifeline for low-income families — for good.
Claims that math and science are racist, while students fall further behind in STEM skills but teachers and administrators don’t face any consequences.
Lessons teaching our kids that America is evil, that our country’s history is a story of oppression and exploitation, and that our Founding Fathers, our Declaration of Independence, and our Constitution should be despised, as progressive political messaging replaces reading, writing, and actual history.
The destruction of gifted and talented programs — just like what’s happening now in New York City! — that accept students based on merit and hard work, and provide elite educational opportunities for free to working class, low-income, and/or immigrant families who can’t afford private school … like the ones that politicians, progressive elites, and others send their kids to.
