Fast forward to today. The United States/NATO made the same mistake in trying to pull Ukraine into our sphere of influence.
Cuba was in our backyard and the Ukraine is in Russia’s backyard. Both the US then and Russia’s plan now is to *change the governments in Cuba and Ukraine to protect their sphere of influence.
